THE THOMPSON CENTER PLAZA REDESIGN FOR GOOGLE
Focused on the reimagining of the Chicago Thompson Center plaza, this studio project was driven by Google's imminent move into the iconic building. Tasked with considering aspects such as pedestrian circulation, security, scale challenges, and limited design information, the primary goal was to envision a grand future for Google's move into the Loop.
Emphasizing the public nature of both the building and the plaza, I proposed the creation of the Google Commons. This multifunctional space aimed to serve as a eating area, lecture venue, and a private meeting space for Google. The project not only challenged my design capabilities in a contemporary context but also tested my proficiency with tools like SketchUp and Lumion in innovative ways.
